SMAR Member BIO Pages

The Technology department of the Southern Maryland Association of REALTORS® is please to offer members the opportunity to market their services to each other and the public via low-cost member biographical pages.

Each page is a template (meaning they all appear to have the same layout and design) that can be customized to the individual member. The pages are designed to provide a low-cost method of self-promotion and to act as a way to direct the public visiting our site to you and your services.

The pages may be used to promote businesses as well as individuals. Each page provides plenty of room for essential contact information as well as a large text area for a description of services or an individual resume. Page features include:

Space for a Photo of you, your team or your business.
Space for logos, which may include Company logo, Fair Housing, E-Pro, REALTOR®, etc.
Space for up to 3 labeled contact numbers.
Space for up to 3 labeled email addresses.
Space for up to 3 labeled links to other sites and pages.
Space for up tp 5 links to preferred Affiliates or other SMAR members.

("labeled" means you can choose the verbage to describe the content, such as "Call my cell phone" or "Visit my Web site").

How will people find your page?

SMAR's website will be the focal point used to help people find your page. Visitors to our site come to the "main page" with messages designed to inform the public about our Association and its many services. That page included direct links to several methods to locate the bio pages. They include:

Find a Member or Affiliate Member search pages. When a person searches the membership database, the matching members who have BIO page enhancements are flagged with a special "More Info" tag not found on the other listings. Click that tag and your BIO page appears.

Enhanced Member Information pages Link. The messages on the main page of the site include a direct link to the list of BIO page subscribers. When visitors click on this link, they'll beb taken to a table showing all the names of people who subscribe to a BIO page. Each name on the list links to that member's page.

Relocating to Southern Maryland link. The messages on the main page invite people who are relocating to the area to click a link with information targeted to their needs. That page includes a link back to the table of BIO page subscribers described above.

SMAR Award Winners link. The messages on the main page allow visitors to view lists of SMAR Award winners as presented during the 2003 Awards banquet. Members appearing on the awards lists who have also subscribed to a BIO page will have their names cross linked to their pages.

(A link means that when a visitor to the web site clicks on it, a new page opens on the web site.)

What about Teams?

Teams may purchase pages, however, each member must purchase a separate page in order to make the links in the "Find a Member" searches work. In addition, each member page will have a unique address. The work required to create and cross link the team pages is as great as that required if each team member had purchased individual pages.

What are the limitations?

The BIO pages are designed to be low-cost site pages, so they are limited in capability. The text area is just for text, and may not contain additional photos, images, or links. The pages are not designed to act as full web sites, so there is no email contact form capability, or custom web address. Animated images, custom fonts, custom colors, scripts, trend reports, etc, are not available for BIO pages.

How do I get my own BIO Page?

Bio page subscriptions require you to do three things:

1) Purchase the page. They cost $100 for a full year's subscription. Click here to pay for the page using our secured online store. The store accepts VISA or Master Card. Your purchase will generate an email to SMAR notifying us the page has been paid for. Note the store requires a "shipping" fee in order to complete the transaction. All shipping fees in our store have been set to zero. Click UPS for shipping. The zero charge will be "added" to the order and you will be able to complete the transaction.

2) Provide the data. You can email us requesting that we fax you a form or you can fill out the information using our online form. Return faxed forms by faxing them to 301-870-2575 or mail them to SMAR, 8440 Leonardtown Road, Suite 112 Box 8, Hughesville, MD 20637. You can contact Steuart Bowling 301-870-2323 ext 14 if you want any corrections, changes, adjustments or updates to the information in the page during the entire life of your subscription.

3) Provide the images of yourself, or your team, or business and your company logo. Photos will be resized. Wallet sized images are best--larger sized scans may lose detail or look distorted when reduced. Images can be emailed to us (the fastest way to get your page online) or you can mail them to SMAR (at the address above) and we can scan them for you. Please include a note about any other special logo or designation images you want attached and whether you want them attached to your personal image or the company logo.
