In addition to the many activities SMAR is involved with as a part of the Southern Maryland community, members of the Southern Maryland Association of REALTORS® often devote their personal time to helping with community projects.
In 2003, SMAR was awarded the prestigious Charity and REALTOR® Caring Award by the National Association of REALTORS®. The award recognizes the extraordinary contributions SMAR has made, and continues to make, to the local schools and greater southern Maryland community.
