Filing
an Ethics Complaint
The Southern Maryland Association
of REALTORS® is responsible for enforcing the REALTORS® Code of Ethics.
The Code of Ethics imposes duties above and in addition to those imposed
by law or regulation which apply only to real estate professionals who
choose to become REALTORS®.
Mediation Services
Although the majority of real estate transactions
close without incident, there is a possibility that a problem or dispute
could occur. When that happens, it is usually successfully resolved by
the parties through normal communication and negotiation. In the past,
when negotiations failed, parties took their case to court. Today, they
are taking their disputes to mediation.
