House Keys 4 Employees |
| |
In 2003, efforts to increase home ownership fro the workforce were launched by Lt Governor Michael S. Steele through the Department of Housing and Community Development and the "More House 4 Less" program. Under this initiative, alternative mortgage options were made available fro homebuyers to make financing more affordable in a rising housing market.
It is a employer partnership home ownership initiative that matches funds for closing costs and down payments for eligible employees who want to purchase a home. Eligible employees are those who have not owned a principal residence in the last 3 years, have a combined income of $89,300 for a 1 or 2 person household, or $102,695 for a 3 person household and whose total home purchase price does not exceed $370,533 (with maximum mortgage of $312,895).
HK4E provides State matching funds up to $5,000 for employer and other local contributions to make the cost of buying a house more affordable for working people.
Calvert County has partnered with the DHCD initiative. It enables the County to incorporate grants of up to $5,000 from the Calvert Housing Opportunities Fund, making as much as $15,000 available for eligible employees.
