Calvert County Sign Ordinance Proposal 8/22 Update

Calvert Hearing 082217In Calvert County, a public joint hearing of the Board of County Commissioners and the Planning Commission along with key county staff present a draft of sign ordinance regulations to a large crowd at Calvert Pines on August 22, 2017. The proposed regulations have been worked on for over six years, with the U.S. Supreme Court Reed v. Town of Gilbert forcing a previous draft to be amended in order to comply.

The public ad hoc group leading the redevelopment of the sign ordinance met over 13 times and was a mix of staff experts, business, community activists, private citizen, individual engaged REALTORS® and your SMAR representative.

Topics covered before an array of public comments included various regulations for the seven town centers, maximum height, freestanding sign and electronic messaging centers. Below you will find the presentation portion as it relates to the real estate industry.

Update: Public Record will be held open for 30 days on the sign ordinance.
