SMAR Fair Housing Essay and Poster Contest 2006 Winners
The Essay contest's continuing theme is "What My Home Means to Me." Each year the students manage to provide touching, funny and heartwarming works. Hundreds of essays are reviewed and judged by the members of the SMAR Fair Housing Committee. The top one from each County are invited, along with family, teachers, principals and friends to a reception held at the SMAR offices in Hughesville. The winners read their works and receive certificates of recognition.
Poster art is based on a new Fair Housing awareness theme each year. Posters are first judged by local Association committees who select their favorites from each county. The winners are then sent to the State Association for final consideration. The State winners are published in a calendar that is distributed all across Maryland to promote Fair Housing awareness. Copies of the calendar are available at the SMAR offices in Hughesville. |

Note to parents, teachers and especially the students: Our camera's batteries were simply not up to the task! We regret that the images posted here are of low quality. Some were too dark or blurry to post at all, which led to some of our winners being underrepresented in the pictures. We'd be happy to post additional images of this event if you would like to share them with us. Please email them by clicking here, or send printed copies to SMAR, (address below) and we will scan them for posting on this page.
