Notice To Licensees: Changes To Maryland CE Coming In October

The following changes passed the Maryland General Assembly during the 2024 session and will likely impact you if you are a Maryland Real Estate Agent:

 

Continuing Education Procedure Changes

Annotated Code of Maryland, Business Occupations and Professions Article, Title 17

There are two important changes to the Maryland Broker Act (Annotated Code of Maryland, Business Occupations and Professions Article, Title 17) that will effect your license renewal procedures. They are noted below and are effective October 1, 2024.

 

§17-314

(c) (1) BEFORE A LICENSE EXPIRES, the licensee periodically may renew it for an additional 2–year term, if the licensee:

...

(iv) NOT LATER THAN 30 DAYS BEFORE THE LICENSE EXPIRES, has complied with the continuing education requirements under § 17–315. See, § 17-314(c)(1)(iv).

(2) A LICENSEE WHO FAILS TO COMPLY WITH [THE ABOVE] PARAGRAPH … SHALL BE SUBJECT TO A REINSTATEMENT FEE SET BY THE COMMISSION.

 

§17-315

(e) WITHIN 14 DAYS AFTER COMPLETION OF A CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSE, the entity that conducted the course may submit the course completion information directly to the Commission and the licensee by electronic means.
