Formed in 1971, the Southern Maryland Association of REALTORS® (SMAR) is a trade organization dedicated to serving its members and the Southern Maryland community. SMAR has grown to be the largest and most influential Real Estate trade association dedicated to serving its more than 1,800 members and the Southern Maryland community across all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industry. Our members include residential and commercial REALTORS®, brokers, property managers, appraisers, affiliate businesses, and others who participate in the real estate industry in Southern Maryland.

We open doors, and in doing so, protect and preserve Southern Maryland communities.

We do this by being:

Code of Ethics:

NAR's Code of Ethics, adopted in 1913, was one of the first codifications of ethical duties adopted by any business group. The Code ensures that consumers are served by requiring REALTORS® to cooperate with each other in furthering clients' best interests.
