National Association of Realtors® Emeritus Inductees - Glenda Lytle And Roy Hart

HUGHESVILLE, Md. (July 3, 2019) -- The Southern Maryland Association of Realtors® (SMAR) would like to recognize the 2019 National Association of Realtors® Emeritus Inductees, Glenda Lytle and Roy Hart, for 40+ years of service as a REALTOR®.

Prior to real estate Glenda was a homemaker and Navy wife. She obtained her first job in real estate as a Secretary for Ron Leonard of Leonard Realty in 1977. She later became licensed herself in 1978. Glenda was REALTOR® Associate of the Year in the 1990’s, served as a St. Mary’s County Director on the Board of Directors and volunteered on the forms and legislative committees during her time with SMAR. Glenda has served her community in many ways during her years as a REALTOR®. She volunteered for 9 years with the Patuxent Habitat for Humanity, 4 years volunteering with the St. Mary’s Mental Health Authority and provided services through her church with the Community Outreach Ministry.

When asked, “What do you see as the biggest change in the real estate industry since you began”, her response was, “Contracts going from 4 pages to 48 pages. I remember when we used type on carbon paper”.

Roy served on the National Guard in High School and 10 days after his last tour her went into the Navy. While serving in the Navy Roy resided overseas in Italy. He then moved here to Lexington Park in the 1960’s. Roy retired from Naval Air Station Patuxent River in February 1975. Roy did not spend much time after retirement wondering what he would do next, as he got into the real estate industry that same month in 1975. While working in the real estate industry Roy obtained his degree in real estate and was also licensed as an Appraiser for 25 years. During his time as a REALTOR® with SMAR Roy worked on the committee that developed the first MLS for St. Mary’s County in the 1970’s.  In addition to this accomplishment Roy was also awarded annual production awards on various occasions. Along with his service in the military Roy was a member of the Rotary Club for 5-6 years.

When asked, “What do you see as the biggest change in the real estate industry since you began”, his response was, “All the new programs. It makes it hard to keep up with technology”.

As fate would have it, Glenda and Roy have been lifelong friends and cohorts and established Hart and Lytle in 1983. During their partnership they collaborated to provide property management as well as work for Veterans Affairs in the late 1980’s/ early 1990’s. Their organization prospered for 15 years.

On behalf of the Board of Directors and SMAR membership we would like to say thank you for your dedication and service to the real estate industry. We wish you the best in all your future endeavors.
